SECOND VOLUME OF THE EDITORIAL� "IL MANUALE D'INGEGNERIA D'EPOCA "
The
third volume is devoted to Moto Guzzi. There are articles about
the "Normale" distribition, "Condor",
"Dondolino" and "Gambalunga" performances
and flow and hp bench test of a
"Falcone" engine. All results are published.
Moreover, an estetic study of a Moto Guzzi
"Falcone" and a reportage about the Moto
Guzzi Classics Club of Schio (Italy) visit. The tuning of Mr
president's Guzzi Falcone!
This
website, whose birth is datable in July
2007, represents an activity of study,
analysis and researchs of the techniques of the past years. The team is an association of technicians, impassioned and supporting; they try to find the "roots" and the "reasons", using the modern methods but also comparative with the
classic ones. The target is to find the performances and constructive reasons that were generally adopted in the
automotive sector both bikes and cars.
For these reasons, we have materials like
historical books, technical handbooks,
original plannings and many others; moreover, this association has also a very conspicuous and "strange"
modern technology to study the part. In fact the
main sponsor of this project is the
SOFT-ENGINE company, leader in the dynamometers, flow benchs, camshaft and engine simulation software manifacturing and many
others.
The union of all this offers us the possibility to do an analysis detailed of the
engine and of the vehicle through the
re-planning of it and also to
understand the reasons and the solutions of the ancient
projectist.
In this optics, we have involved the Universit�
Politecnica delle Marche with which we make jobs of search in the historical sector.
Mainly, the job develops on
"Moto Guzzi" engines and it is really curious to produce thesis of degree about the study of
"Dondolino" a connecting rod or a
"Sport 14" shaft with tubular connecting rod with
with metal bearing.
All this doesn't deceive the reader: the job develops only with the most sophisticated technology, but in the more part of the cases the planning are made with the ancient mentality, by
classic books and methods of that period.
THE
LEADER INTERVIEW (ITA)
We want immediately to specify that we don't intend to invade the experts fields, neither we have velleity historic or documentaristic, (only to know the truthfulness of a solution and the originality of a made a tested part). Moreover, we don't invade the field of the collectors too, renovators and of the replicantis, on the contrary we need their help and we accept well gladly the consultation and possible material that there is still lacking.
So, we already thank some persins and structures, like the Mr
.Zaghini partner of the
Museo Nazionale del Motociclo (Motorcycle Museum) of Rimini that has understood and enthusiastically sustained since the beginning our initiative furnishing us precious information and material and several other persons that have stuck in the last years fantastically to the idea free collaborating to find pieces, documentation or to feel near the last witnesses (ancient mechanics) if they remembered something of as made a part or where was climbed on. This type of people has made us understand that the road undertaken of the enthusiasm and of the passion is that correct.
Lately fan is added, friends and impassioned above all in the italian region Marche that the CMAJE of Jesi
(AN - Italy) crosses lavish him to make to grow this project.
Now,
very important people for classic engineering collaborate with
this project, that was born very well.
Obviously this is an extremely specific activity and it will be rare to interest even someone from data about the
flow coefficient of "Sport
14" engine (how the engine "breath"), the maximum pressure in the cylinder or a Guzzi
"Falcone Sport" valve acceleration! But we will answer to these kind of questions: "Was there need of such a heavy flywheel"? We answer this question, for example, by calculating the degree of irregularity of that engine. What is the final purpouse? Surely that to discuss about technical curiosity, because nobody today can do it and the research of such answers is our main purpouse. Also, we like to nostalgically relive the motoristic "verve" of that almost pioneer years. It is certainly an illusion to relive the past
propitiouses, almost he was inside the pulsating heart of a cylinder: while the common impassioned people (we also do it!!!)
drive a motorbike of the thirteens and does it turn for the countries dreaming to be still in that years.
Our nostalgic idea is mainly , about technical subjects; means
test a flow capacity about cylinder head a
"Moto Guzzi Sport 15" or testing
the horsepower of a Gilera or a Guzzi to the bench....
A
dynamometer test session is begun, prepared especifically for
motorbikes "Moto Guzzi 500cc". A series of tests for different models, different configurations and types.
An interesting perspective is that to make
service activity for people who have a motorcycle or sporting auto or for who participates to race
classic competitions and want to try or to tune their motors, and obviously for testers; in a second time some
"specials" can born by those studies
Natural epilogue of this kind of activity is surely the production of a documentation born by these studies. In fact, it goes out the first volume about the studies that partly are published in the site (www.ingegneriadepoca.com). It is a periodic publication; in the first volume of
�THE HANDBOOK OF CLASSIC
ENGINEERING�, mainly devoted to Moto Guzzi, we publicate dynamometer tests, not easily available on other texts, of Moto Guzzi Falcone with different configurations of camshafts and exhaust system and results in comparison. But not only: we publish monographs on the run models Condor, Dondolino and Gambalunga, with unpublished "exploded" plannings and design and photographic
documentation.
The following step is the realization of a complete race engine models like Condor, Dondolino and Gambalunga; we have made the fusions for�carters and we are going to complete the entire motorbike.
The
engine ofCondor,
Dondolino e Gambalunga is
made. We built all the motorcycle parts like engine, chassis
discovering ancient ways to make the mechanics parts. Finally the
complete motorcycle chassis is done, and it is a big emotion to
see the motorcycle on the road (see the video).
The
"Condor" planning is
done now, and this motorcycle, eneterely an "Ingegeneria
d'Epoca" manifacturing, was already tested at dynamometer and
on the track. There is a very nice new video
showing this...
Our
works continue with the next model, "Dondolino",
actually work-in-progress. It was presented in the "Novegro
2016" expo.
During
2016 we found the engine C2V 1926, the first racing bike Moto Guzzi,
we are going to restore and tune it with our full competences.
